Facts about Spain:

  • Spain has a population of around 45 million people
  • Some famous artists from Spain include Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Joan Miro.
  • There is no tooth fairy in Spain.  Instead, there is a tooth mouse named Ratoncito Perez who gives out gifts in exchange baby teeth.
  • There are four different Spanish based languages spoken in Spain: Castilian, Catalan, Valencian, Galician and Basque.
  • The Spanish coastline has over 5000 miles of beaches.
  • The most popular sport in Spain is soccer, but the country has never won a World Cup.

 

Facts about Latin America:

  • Latin America most often refers to countries in the Americas where Spanish and Portuguese are spoken.  These countries were all once part of the Spanish and Portuguese Empires in the Americas.
  • Technically Latin America includes all countries that where a Romance language is spoken.  Romance languages come from Latin and include Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian.
